Completion of the first phase of My Son Sanctuary restoration

(QNO) - The 1st phase of the My Son Sanctuary restoration project has been brought to completion.

The 5-year project on My Son Sanctuary conservation and restoration started in 2016 under the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnamese and Indian governments signed in 2015. The Government of India committed a support of VND 50 billion out of VND 60 billion it costs.

The restoration of the tower K has been finished. It can now be ready for tourism activities. The towers H and G have also been repaired and conserved. The bricks used in the process of restoration was made on-site. The project has been carried as being planned. During the process of conservation and restoration, there were 275 items of Champa Sculpture found. They are really significant for the study of Champa culture.

My Son Sanctuary was once the religious and political capital of Champa Kingdom. It was recognized as a world’s cultural heritage in 1999 by UNESCO. The conservation and restoration of this holly place has been carried out step by step thanks to the assistance of Lerici, ILO, MAG, JICA, ASIANA Airlines, UNESCO Office in Ha Noi, and the Governments of Italia, India, Japan,…

The completion of the 1st phase of the My Son Sanctuary restoration project has been highly appreciated. It is also the important base for the next phase. Leaders of Quang Nam province promised to facilitate domestic and foreign experts and scientists in their work at My Son Sanctuary.
