(QNO) - The natural, historical and cultural values have been well preserved and promoted in community-based tourism development in Cam Kim (Hoi An, Quang Nam province).
A new tourism product, boating on the river, has just come into operation in Cam Kim. Tour guides are those who used to be fishermen. Their new job contributes to the conservation of local natural resources and the environment.
The community-based tourism model in Cam Kim belongs to the project on sustainable livelihood development in combination with ecotourism in order to promote socio-economic growth and contribute to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation at the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An world biosphere reserve.
The project is sponsored by the Global Environmental Fund and implemented by the Hoi An Women's Union.
Craft villages in Cam Kim (such as carpentry, fishing, and agriculture) have become tourist attractions, along with ancient houses and 15 other tourist sites.
Visitors to Cam Kim may learn more about its natural, historical and cultural values.
The project has also supported Cam Kim with vehicles, life jackets, bicycles, and voice-over machines.
At the same time, people doing community-based tourism are provided with a livelihood capital of VND 300 million.
