(QNO) - Vietnam will have 14 international airports, including Chu Lai airport (Quang Nam province) by 2030.
According to a master plan for developing the national system of airports and aerodromes in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Vietnam will have 14 international airports, including Chu Lai airport (Quang Nam province), by 2030.
Chu Lai airport will also be upgraded into a national center for flight training, maintenance and repair.
By 2050, Vietnam will have 33 airports with three more domestic airports including Cat Bi (Hai Phong city), Cao Bang (Cao Bang province) and one more in Ha Noi city.
By 2030, Vietnam expects to welcome nearly 276 million passengers via national airports, accounting for 1.5 - 2 percent of transportation market share and 3 - 4 percent of the total volume of inter-provincial road passenger transport.
The total volume of air cargo in Viet Nam is expected to reach 4.1 million tons, accounting for 0.05-0.1 percent of transport demand.
Besides, there are logistics centers at airports with transport demands of more than 250,000 tons a year.
Vietnam needs an estimated VND400 trillion for investment in airports from now until 2030.
