(QNO) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlights Chu Lai Airport as a key strategic asset for Quang Nam, emphasising urban planning and ecosystem development around the airport.
Approved in the 2021-2030 master plan, Chu Lai Airport aims to receive 10 million passengers by 2030 and 30 million by 2050. The total investment for Chu Lai Airport is projected at VND 11,000 billion, including VND 3,500 billion for the airfield, VND 1,000 billion for the apron, and 6,500 billion for the civil aviation area.
In December 2024, provincial leaders, alongside SOVICO Group, visited ADANI Group (India) to propose an investment in Chu Lai Airport.
According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, beyond runways and terminals, Chu Lai Airport is set to become a regional transhipment centre, featuring aircraft maintenance, high-tech parts manufacturing, and logistics, aiming for an airport-driven economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh states Chu Lai Airport as a key strategic asset for Quang Nam. He emphasises its upgrade to the highest 4F standard of the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the development of an airport city and ecosystem, beyond just runways and terminals.
Reportedly, 868 hectares of defence land will be transferred for the airport development.
