(QNO) - The trial farming model of cantaloupe in sandy soil by using net houses is successful and brings economic benefits to Nguyen Thi My in Cam Ha commune of Hoi An city (Quang Nam province).
My’s net house for cantaloupe farming covers an area of 400 square metres. This model started in 2022 and cantaloupes have been harvested with good quality.
My’s cantaloupe is originated from Malaysia. It can grow well in Vietnamese climatic and soil conditions.
My’s net house is equipped with blowers, lights, watering lines meeting VietGap standards.
My’s farm uses organic fertilisers and biological pesticides, saying no to chemical products.
The first cantaloupes were harvested with better quality, sweeter and more delicious than those in the local market.
My plants 3 crops a year, mainly selling her cantaloupes to her friends and relatives, hotels and restaurants in Hoi An.
My’s high-tech cantaloupe farming is the first model in Hoi An. It brings high economic benefits to the farmer; so the model should to be replicated in order to help better farmers’ lives.
