Investment in Ngoc Linh ginseng

Ngoc Linh ginseng was first discovered in the Ngoc Linh mountain in Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces in 1985.

Then,  the project on conservation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng (Vietnamese ginseng) till 2030 was approved by the Government of Vietnam on September 1st, 2015.

Ngoc Linh ginseng in Quang Nam province covers an area of 10,000ha now.

In recent years, the brand of Vietnamese ginseng including medicines has been built by Quang Nam and Kon Tum to create national endemic products. It contributes to the country’s pharmaceutical industry and socio-economic development. 

According to Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu, the “National program to develop Ngoc Linh ginseng in the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2045” is to turn Ngoc Linh ginseng into a Vietnam’s spearhead economic sector and bring ginseng products to the world.

Strong development of ginseng industry

The long-term goal of Quang Nam province is to turn Vietnam into a country of ginseng by 2045 with annual total production from 500 to 1,000 tons.

Quang Nam will attract investment in developing ginseng seedlings and Ngoc Linh ginseng products such as functional foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, medicinal herbs and others.

Development of ginseng tourism and culture

The community-based tourism villages of Mo Chai’s commune 1 and Tak Ngo’s commune 2 and Tak Lang’s commune 3, Tra Linh commune (Nam Tra My) connecting with the tourist destinations of My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An Ancient Town, Tien Phuoc and Bac Tra My districts will be built to welcome visitors to Ngoc Linh ginseng region.

Besides, the Ngoc Linh ginseng festivals at national (every five years) and provincial levels (once a year) will be organized. Monthly fairs of Ngoc Linh ginseng and agricultural  products of Nam Tra My district continues to be maintained.
