During the reception on December 3, Chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh, on behalf of the provincial leaders, expressed his happiness to welcome Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio to Quang Nam.
Mr. Yamada Takio used to be an ambassador to UNESCO. So, his visit will open up a big opportunity for the friendship promotion between Quang Nam and Japan, especially in cultural heritage conservation.
According to Chairman Thanh, there have just had 19 projects with a total of 142 million USD from Japanese investors in Quang Nam until now. Therefore, Chairman Thanh hoped the relationship between Quang Nam and Japanese localities will be developed more comprehensive in the coming time.
Chairman Thanh hoped Ambassador Yamada Takio to act as a bridge to call for help from Japan in such projects in Quang Nam as Chua Cau (Japanese Bridge) restoration, building Hoi An smart city, widening Vietnam-Japan friendship space, responding to climate change, popularizing Japanese culture and language.
At the meeting, Ambassador Yamada Takio expressed his pleasure when visiting Quang Nam in general and Hoi An city in particular where the imprints of Japanese culture and the relationship between Quang Nam and Japan in the past are still preserved. He said he would better the relationship between Quang Nam and Japan.
On this occasion, Chairman Thanh and Ambassador Yamada Takio planted a souvenir tree in Hoi An Park.
