(QNO) - On January 13, 2025, Hoi An hosted a conference on community livelihoods in combination with eco-tourism to support biodiversity in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve.
The project to develop sustainable livelihoods linked to ecotourism in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve, managed by the Hoi An Women's Union, has benefitted 800 households.
Funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through UNDP Vietnam, the VND-5.1-billion project (1/2023 - 12/2024) focuses on biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development in Cam Kim and Cam Thanh communes.
Ngo Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of the Hoi An Women's Union, said that the project has improved livelihoods, raised community awareness, and promoted conservation efforts. It has also enriched rural tourism in Hoi An by showcasing local culture, craft villages, and eco-friendly practices.
The project has enhanced socio-economic and environmental outcomes in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve, supported Hoi An’s eco-cultural-tourism goals, and advanced rural development and conservation efforts in Cam Kim and Cam Thanh.
