Ban Than - a new tourist attraction

(QNO) - Ban Than is located in Tam Hai island, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province, 40 km far from Tam Ky city. It is considered as “Ly Son island of Quang Nam province”.

Origin of the name “Bàn Than”

Tam Hai island, separated from the outside world by the romantic Truong Giang river, has been well-known for its fresh and quiet atmosphere, murals and beautiful natural landscapes lately. However, the name “Bàn Than” is still little known by tourists although it is one of the most beautiful sceneries on the island.

Ban Than is a black rugged cliff in strange forms. The Vietnamese phase “Bàn Than” can literally be translated as the coal table. So, the name may result from the appearance of the flat black stone blocks here. The beauty of Ban Than turns more fanciful when the strange shapes of the black stone blocks are covering by white waves in the bright sunlight.

Among the strange stone blocks in Ban Than, Ong Dun and Ba Che are the most original peaks. Ong Dun consists of a pile of several stone layers in odd forms lying next to the sea. Ba Che is an archway in a shape of a huge fish head overlooking the sea. Besides, it can be found in Ban Than some small lakes between the stone lines where countless colourful fishes live.

A tourist attraction

Next to Ban Than is Nom beach, where everyone can make their sea-bathing or contemplate the scenery of a busy fishing wharf in the late afternoon. In Tam Hai, visitors can enjoy seafood such as fish, squids, shell-fish, and seaweed.

Besides, the reefs or the long white sand beaches on the islets make Tam Hai more beautiful and attractive to visitors. It is also a good place for an overnight camping trip.
