(QNO) - Aviation is the fastest and most effective route to fully tap into the international tourism market.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, a substantial rise in international air travel fueled a remarkable development in Da Nang's tourism, making it the city's main economic driver.
Key attractions in Quang Nam, like Hoi An and My Son, within a 40km radius of Da Nang airport, also gained significant benefits.
In fact, the number of international visitors to these two heritage sites grew during the period of 2015-2019. The increase in visitors to Hoi An and My Son was mainly from emerging markets at that time, such as Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia.
With the opening up of aviation, several markets, such as South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia have entered the top 10 largest visitor markets for Quang Nam, with South Korea being the largest market for over 5 years.
Local tourism management agencies have actively installed banners, showcased materials about Quang Nam at major international airports nationwide, or directly performed traditional art forms at Da Nang Airport.
Data from Google's tourism trend tracking tool shows that Vietnam consistently ranks among the world's top in international tourist searches throughout 2023. Hoi An and Da Nang consistently appear in the top 10 searched destinations by travelers.
Chu Lai has been planned as an international airport with a scale of 4F, contributing to promoting investment and opening international routes to Quang Nam in the coming period.
