Anniversary of the National Day of Laos

A meeting was held in Phu Ninh district (Quang Nam province) on the afternoon of December 1 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Laos’ National Day (December 2, 1975- December 2, 2020) and the 100th birth anniversary of the late President of Laos Caysone Phomvihane (December 13, 1920- December 13, 2020).

Present at the meeting were Mr. Viengxay Phommachanh- Consul General of Laos in Da Nang city, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Tran Van Tan.

Giving a speech at the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Van Tan said that the meeting was really significant when it was held in Phu Ninh, the place of the Lower Lao Resistance Zone and the Southern Central Border Office- a symbol of Vietnam-Laos Union.

It provided a chance to remind of the revolutionary tradition, to strengthen the friendliness and solidarity between people in Quang Nam and in Laos.

The meeting also helped the young generation of Vietnam and Laos learn, respect, preserve and promote the good relations between Vietnam and Laos.

The Lower Lao Resistance Zone and the South Central Border Office was recognized as a national relic on August 2, 2011. It has been preserved well and become a tourist destination since then.

Besides, the relic has become a place for teaching history in Phu Ninh district. The district also made a relationship with Tha Teng district of Sekong province, contributing to the good relationship, the solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, Quang Nam and Lao provinces in particular.

Mr. Viengxay Phommachanh talked about the good tradition of Vietnam and Laos at the meeting. On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Laos, he expressed his deep gratitude to Vietnamese people for their contributions and sacrifices in the Laos’ resistance war.

At the same time, Viengxay Phommachanh thanked for Quang Nam leaders’ and people’s help in the Lao fight against Covid-19.

He also felt sorry about the sufferings recently caused by natural disasters in Quang Nam. On this occasion, leaders of Quang Nam province and Phu Ninh district gave several gifts to Lao students studying in Quang Nam.
