Acting chief of the UNESCO office in Vietnam pays a courtesy visit to Quang Nam

(QNO) - Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Dinh Van Thu had a courtesy meeting with Ms. Susan Vize- acting chief of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam on November 11.

Chairman Thu expressed his appreciation to the UNESCO’s supports of Quang Nam’s cultural heritages (especially My Son Sanctuary and Hoi AN ancient town) conservation and community development. He also emphasized the priority Quang Nam province gave to heritage preservation and cultural value promotion. So he hoped to continue receiving more help from UNESCO so that Quang Nam could determine the appropriate directions for popularizing the provincial images, managing and protecting cultural heritages. At the time, Mr. Thu informed about the 6th Heritage Festival to be hosted by Quang Nam in June 2017. This event held every 4 years aims to honor the cultural values of Quang Nam, of other Vietnamese localities and of some countries in the world.

Ms. Susan admitted the Quang Nam’s efforts of preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritages; taking advantages of the heritages to develop local communities and vice versa. She confirmed that Quang Nam was one of the localities to be given priority in the UNESCO’s programs and projects. She also promised to create conditions for Quang Nam to promote all the values of the local cultural heritages.
