(QNO) - The finished submerged embankment will aid in beach restoration and erosion prevention, progressively strengthening Cua Dai's coastal protection system (Hoi An, Quang Nam province).
This will contribute to reducing damage caused by natural disasters and climate change while fostering local socio-economic recovery and development.
The VND210 billion submerged embankment protecting the An Bang coastline constructed using Dutch technology has just been completed and put into use. It is 550 meters long, located 250-300 meters from the shore.
The submerged embankment has helped to prevent the erosion issue in An Bang. Sand has been pumped along the entire 2.3 km length of the beach to restore it.
By limiting erosion and reducing undercurrents during strong waves, the submerged embankment safeguards local livelihoods and protects inhabitants' property. Additionally, it draws those who enjoy beach activities.
The Hoi An coastline, which used to be Asia's most beautiful, has suffered from severe erosion since 2014, damaging beaches and infrastructure. Only 2.3km of the 6km coastline in Hoi An is protected so far.
