A push to industrial development

(QNO) - At the meeting between the Quang Nam provincial People's Council and the Department of Industry and Trade held on June 27, the content of pushing the development of provincial industrial clusters (ICs) was for discussion.

There are all 54 ICs in Quang Nam now with 318 projects that are invested over VND 16,968 billion. Among them, 259 projects have been put into operation with a capital of VND 8,327 billion, providing 31,310 jobs for the locals. However, the problems of wastewater treatment system and quality of employees have caused a lot of difficulties in the development of provincial industry, especially in textile, garment and footwear.

As a result, it is necessary to attract enterprises with advanced technology to help reduce labours and increase their competitiveness. The Department of Industry and Trade advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a regulation on coordinating the management of ICs, especially those on investment incentive, creating more conditions for the ICs to consolidate the wastewater treatment system. For businesses, they must make efforts in technological innovation, improvement of productivity and product quality.
