This café is owned by Ms Usuda Reiko, an Ex-General Secretary of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Kawasaki city. The Usuda Reiko’s house designed by architect Arika Yoshida is small with bare brick walls, wooden stair, Japanese-style venetian blinds. Especially, house roof is also a big cistern to contain rain-water for use.

The wastewater recycling and treatment system in the coffeehouse is the most noteworthy. Kind to environment from the house’ s space structure to activities, Ms Reiko Usuda makes her U coffeehouse lovelier.

Especially, Ms Reiko Usuda organizes the vocational training, teaching language and behaviors to street children. Since 2003, Ms Reiko Usuda calls Japanese organizations for supporting 10,000 bicycles and office equipment for the poor children on the remote schools in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city. At present,  she is coordinating with Vo Tan Tan in Hoi An city to produce bamboo bicycles for export to Japanese and European markets. This not also creates job opportunities for the local residents but also helps the poor children with environmentally-friendly bicycle to school.
